Dr. Jennifer Scott – Executive Director/Founder

Dr. Scott began her educational journey as a color guard instructor for MacArthur High School in Irving, Texas at the age of 18. This started her on the path to becoming a full-time teacher, but she just wasn’t sure what she wanted to teach. She transitioned to a life skills paraprofessional where she found her niche while returning to college to work on her bachelor’s degree. After finishing her degree at Texas Woman’s University, she continued her education by completing both her master’s and Doctorate degrees in Special Education.



During her time in college, she became a certified Special Education teacher where she taught High School Life Skills and was the Transition teacher for the 18+ program in Katy ISD. During this time, she found out that a lot of the students that she worked with did not have a place to attend once they aged out of public education. This is the beginning of the vision and dream that eventually became Choice Living Community.



Choice Living Community was developed and became a 501c(3) nonprofit in December of 2019 and the journey started! She began to research opportunities for her past students in multiple areas before she determined that Corpus Christi was the area that had the most need for a center that would provide programs for adults with disabilities. After contacting the Mary Grett transition center, she confirmed that Corpus Christi was a community that she wanted to grow and expand her vision. We were able to open our first center in January 2021 and just recently moved into a bigger center in August of 2021!

Brooke Reed– Assistant Director

Brooke is a recent graduate of Del Mar College where she got her degree in Applied Science in Occupational Therapy Assistant. 

She started with Choice Living as a Level 1 OT Student and quickly moved into the role of assistant director. 

Bethany Baird - Marketing/Fundraiser Director

Two years ago, two paths crossed and the stars aligned in Corpus Christi!
Corpus Christi IceRays met with Dr. Scott about stepping in and helping her begin her journey, shedding light and love on a vision that hit home for the President Cass Lange. Sitting beside him; acting Vice President, Bethany Baird also felt drawn to the vision and bringing the positive impact to Corpus Christi’s attention. Little did anyone know at the time how much the roles would change as the relationship grew.

Proudly announcing, joining the team as the new Marketing/Fundraising Director for Choice Living, is Bethany Baird.
Stepping away from the Icerays; with their full support, to stand behind Dr. Scott’s vision has been a great transition and we’re excited for the future! We have big things planned, so keep an eye out for all the great things coming.
